3. Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl and cover them with cold water. Let them soak for about 30 minutes. This step helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.


4. After soaking, drain the water and pat the potato strips dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.


5. Heat the cooking oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer to around 350-375°F (175-190°C). Use enough oil to submerge the potato strips fully.


6. Carefully add a batch of potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the potatoes in batches, if necessary.


7. Fry the potato strips until they turn golden brown and crispy. This typically takes about 4-5 minutes, but it may vary depending on the thickness of your fries and the temperature of the oil.


8. Use a slotted spoon or a spider skimmer to remove the fried French fries from the oil, allowing any excess oil to drain.


9. Immediately sprinkle salt over the hot fries while they are still fresh out of the oil. Toss the fries gently to coat them evenly with salt.


10. Serve the French fries hot and enjoy them as a delicious and classic snack. You can pair them with ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favorite dipping sauce.


Remember to handle hot oil with caution and never leave it unattended. Homemade French fries are best enjoyed fresh and hot!


Note: If you prefer a healthier alternative, you can also bake the potato strips in the oven. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C), spread the potato strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, lightly coat them with oil, and bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through the baking time.
