momos chicken recipe




 Here's a basic recipe for making chicken momos, a popular dumpling dish from Tibetan cuisine:


**Ingredients:**


For the dough:

- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- Water, as needed


For the chicken filling:

- 1 cup ground chicken

- 1 small onion, finely chopped

- 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced

- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced

- 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped

- 1/4 cup carrots, finely grated

- 1/4 cup spring onions, finely chopped

- 1 teaspoon soy sauce

- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

- Salt and pepper to taste


**Instructions:**


**For the Dough:**

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.

2. Gradually add water while kneading to form a smooth and elastic dough.

3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.


**For the Chicken Filling:**

1. In a bowl, mix the ground chicken, chopped onion, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped spring onions.

2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to the mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.


**Assembling and Cooking:**

1. Divide the rested dough into small equal-sized portions.

2. Roll out each portion into a thin circle to form the momo wrappers.

3. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each wrapper.

4. Start folding and pleating the edges of the wrapper to seal the momo. There are various ways to fold momos; you can choose the style you prefer.

5. Repeat the process until all the dough and filling are used up.


**Steaming:**

1. Grease a steamer basket or line it with cabbage leaves to prevent sticking.

2. Arrange the filled momos in the steamer, making sure they don't touch each other.

3. Steam the momos for about 10-15 minutes or until the chicken filling is cooked and the momos are translucent.


**Serve:**

1. Carefully remove the steamed momos from the steamer and serve them hot.

2. Serve with a dipping sauce like soy sauce mixed with vinegar, chili sauce, or your favorite momo dipping sauce.
